Teatro São João is once again the chosen location for the premiere of Território, an Estúdios Victor Córdon programme that offers young (14 to 18 years old) dancers from all over Portugal the opportunity to work with two internationally-renowned choreographers. This edition features the British dancer and choreographer Akram Khan, a leading figure of the dance world, and the US dancer Jermaine Spivey, currently an associate artist with Opera Ballet Vlaanderen. The programme of Território VII comprises a presentation of Kaash (2002), the piece that fully confirmed Akram Khan’s artistic genius (a collaborative effort with the musician Nitin Sawhney and the visual artist Anish Kapoor), and a new creation by Jermaine Spivey. The show also includes the short film that won the Território | Estúdios Victor Córdon prize for Best Portuguese Director at InShadow – Lisbon ScreenDance Festival.
